MHI REPORT 2015 Receives Second Prize in 18th Nikkei Annual Report Awards

TOKYO, Feb 09, 2016 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has received the Second Prize at the Nikkei Annual Report Awards 2015, sponsored by Nikkei Inc., for its "MHI REPORT 2015" released in October 2015. The award-winning publication, which garnered high marks from the Nikkei judging panel, integrated the contents of the Company's former "Annual Report" and "CSR Report," which were compiled separately. Last year, MHI had received Nikkei's "Grand Prix," the top award, for the "MHI REPORT 2014," the first publication so integrated. It was highly acclaimed for its excellent cohesiveness and superior quality.

The annually presented Nikkei Annual Report Awards were inaugurated in 1998 to promote the publication and further enhancement of corporate annual reports. The awards are given to annual reports published by Japanese corporations that are deemed to be especially outstanding.

In 2015, a total of 71 business corporations entered the competition. The winners were selected based on a broad variety of criteria by a judging panel drawn primarily from currently active fund managers and analysts.

In selecting the "MHI REPORT 2015" for the Second Prize, the judges gave high marks in particular to the following factors:

- The report clearly presents how MHI's business activities relate to social challenges and focuses throughout on the Company's management philosophy.

- The report describes in extremely easy-to-understand terms how MHI strives to enhance its enterprise value.

- Above all, the report gives a clear sense of management's business approach and creates a positive impression by demonstrating how the Company places great value on dialogue with its investors.

- The report achieves superlative quality by presenting a clear picture of MHI's management strengths and of the smooth progress being achieved in reforming the Company's business structure in line with corporate governance guidelines.

The appeal of the 2015 report was enhanced by its special feature on the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ), the Company's next-generation passenger jet now undergoing flight testing. Encouraged by consecutive receipt of Nikkei's Grand Prix and Second Prize, going forward MHI's management team will continue to take the lead in proactively communicating with shareholders, investors and all other stakeholders and in making timely and proper disclosures of information. In these and other ways, the Company will vigorously engage in corporate communications and IR initiatives that will lead to the further enhancement of its enterprise value.
