Following the successful acquisition of Chaucer in late 2018, good news came in again for China Re Group at the end of this year as China Reinsurance (Hong Kong) Company Limited (China Re HK) formally obtained the licence from Hong Kong Insurance Authority on 16 December 2019.

On August 22nd, at the 3rd China Reinsurance Catastrophe Risk and Insurance Summit & China Earthquake Catastrophe Model Press Conference, China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation (China Re) launched "China Earthquake Catastrophe Model v2.0", China's first proprietary commercial earthquake catastrophe model certified by the Seismological Society of China.
