NEC Enters New SaaS Cloud Services Agreement with the Largest Industrial Estate in Thailand

Tokyo and Bangkok, Jul 11, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC) announced today that NEC Corporation (Thailand) Ltd., a subsidiary of NEC in Thailand, has entered into an agreement with Amata Corporation PCL (Headquarters: Bangkok) that NEC will provide new SaaS cloud services for corporations and companies located at the Amata Industrial Estate in Thailand. The new service is planned to commence mid-July.

Amata holds the two largest industrial estates in Thailand, Amata Nakorn and Amata City, with a total area of approximately 4,600 hectares that can accommodate 650 companies on site. Amata will support NEC offer a wide variety of applications as services, such as web based conference systems, groupware and HR and salary management from data centers to Amata's tenant.

Amata is currently offering such services as power and water supplies for companies located within its industrial estates. NEC has offered ICT solutions including PBX, servers, and ERP packages to companies at Amata Industrial Estate through NEC Corporation (Thailand). Through this alliance, Amata can offer extensive service menus for companies operating within its industrial estates and NEC can extend its new cloud service businesses and enlarge its sales channels.

NEC plan to offer services to more than 30 companies within the first year of this new business. NEC is also planning to expand business beyond SaaS to include services such as IaaS, DaaS and PaaS (1) with cooperation from Amata.

There is strong market interest in cloud services, including SaaS, due to a strong demand for reducing TCO (2) for IT investment and systems throughout the world. Based on this environment, NEC is actively promoting both its cloud oriented service platform solutions and its systems integration businesses. By leveraging this collaboration with Amata, NEC will promote its cloud services throughout Asia as part of expanding its global cloud business.
