JAKARTA, INDONESIA, Jul 02, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - Indonesia's only vaccine and antisera producer Bio Farma is holding the country's 3rd national vaccine research forum (NVRF) on 2-3 July in Jakarta.

Rustan explained the initiative of Bio Farma in organizing NVRF has received positive response from Indonesia's Ministry of Research and Technology and Ministry of Health's Agency for Health Research and Development.

The theme for this year's forum is "The Strengthening of National Vaccine Research within the Framework of V Self-reliance in Vaccine, through NVRF, Towards the Decade of Vaccine 2011-2020". This proposition serves for a collaboration between industry, government and universities to build a shared commitment to the independence of national vaccine research and production.

Another goal of the event, attended by some 500 participants from within the country and overseas, is to accelerate vaccine research whose results can be felt and taken advantage of by the people. The participants of the forum consist of representatives from industrial circles, government, and universities.

According Rustan, the Decade of Vaccines 2011-2020 forms the basis for academia, government, and industry to align measures in order to improve and enhance the society's degree of health.

Through the Decade of Vaccines it is expected that Indonesia's self-reliance in producing quality, affordable and readily availabe vaccines will increase, and, with an ever equitable immunization for all people of all ages, Human Rights in the Health Sector will be realized.

Ramhan added, in addition to Bio Farma president director Iskandar, the resource persons from Indonesia during this 3rd NVRF are Trihono, head of the Ministry of Health's Research and Development Agency, and the Ministry of Research and Technology's Deputy Amin Soebandrio.
