Quam Limited Awarded Caring Company in Recognition of Commitment in Caring for the Community, the Employee and the Environment
HONG KONG, Mar 16, 2017 - (ACN Newswire) - Quam Limited ("Quam") had been awarded the Caring Company again this year.
Launched by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service ("HKCSS") in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme (the "Scheme") aims at cultivating good corporate citizenship. It is specifically geared to building strategic partnerships among businesses and non-profit organizations to create a more cohesive society. The scheme also endeavors to promote partnership between the business and the social welfare sectors, through various activities, the two sectors can develop community projects matching with community needs. Quam is honorable to be awarded the Caring Company Logo from HKCSS again this year in recognition for its continued commitment to caring for the all-rounded development of the community, its employees and the environment.
Quam designated to serve the community
Throughout the year, Quam has demonstrated the commitment towards corporate social responsibility and participated in various charity, environment caring and cultural activities, Quam is privileged to receive the Caring Company Logo.
For social caring, Quam had been the Ruby Sponsor for CyberRun for Rehab - Healthy Steps in Cyberport 2016, which aims to raise funds for rehabilitation services targeting people with disabilities and chronic illness in Mainland China and Hong Kong. In addition to promote cultural activities, Quam was one of the sponsors of the charity premiere of "Florence Foster Jenkins" held by Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) which helps the organization fundraise for its service to youngsters.
For environmental caring, Quam has been pursuing to implementing environment-friendly practices in the office, such as posting office announcements and posters to remind all staff to protect the environment, taking measures on energy saving, reducing wastes and encouraging paper recycling.
For employee caring, Quam had encouraged all staff to develop diversified interests and promote physical health. Quam was the Platinum Sponsor for 45th Hong Kong French Film Festival and sponsor of "Trivisa" Gala Premiere, allowing Quam to promote arts and cultural activities among all of the staff and encourage their participation. About Caring Company Scheme The selection criteria and the evaluation of the scheme are stringent. All awardees are required to be endorsed by at least one local charitable organization, and then examined by the Steering Committee which comprised of the leaders and professionals from different industries. The members of the Committee include Mr Bernard CHAN, GBS, JP, Chairperson of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service; Ms Jane LAU, Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF; Ms Deborah WAN, BBS, JP, Vice Chairperson of The Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities; and Mr Chua Hoi Wai, the Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service.
There are three adjudication Scopes and a total of 18 Criteria under the Scheme. To qualify for the Caring Company Logo, all participating companies and organizations must fulfil a minimum of 2 Criteria out from each of the three Scopes, i.e. Caring for the Community, Caring for the Employees and Caring for the Environment.
The Scheme encourages the companies to care the community through corporate social responsibility. According to the statistics in 2016/2017, throughout the years, some 3,478 caring companies and organizations supported a total of 483 social service organizations. Over HK$430 million was donated to support various projects and their employees spent over 210,000 hours to the voluntary activities, while over 9,600 people with disabilities were provided with job opportunities. All these are valuable achievements from the companies that joined the scheme.
