SYZ Asset Management Strengthens Its Analysis and Manager Selection Unit

GENEVE, CH, Dec 11, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - SYZ Asset Management, the SYZ Group's institutional management division, is strengthening its analysis and manager selection unit by combining alternative and long-only strategies into one entity. Headed by Michael Malquarti, the Manager Research & Alternative Investments team of specialists selects and controls external managers for the OYSTER Funds range, manages multi-manager products and mandates and selects third-party funds for institutional clients and for the private client' needs of SYZ Wealth Management.

Recent regulatory changes with regard to investment funds have profoundly altered the landscape for institutional and private clients. As a result of the advent of alternative UCITS vehicles in particular, the traditional investment fund and hedge fund universes are now combining, making it possible to group together fund analysts and multi-manager managers. At the same time, institutional clients are increasingly seeking personalised solutions ranging from dedicated discretionary alternative mandates to various forms of advisory.

SYZ Asset Management intends to meet all of these needs by providing highly individualised services to best meet the specific needs of each client in portfolio construction and selection of external funds. Thus, the Manager Research & Alternative Investments team provides its expertise through its discretionary management and advisory offering as well as for the benefit of its own OYSTER Funds distribution platform.

As he takes on the role of Head of the Manager Research & Alternative Investments team, Michael Malquarti will retain his role as the manager of funds of funds and multi-manager-mandates.

Michael joined the SYZ Group in 2005, initially developing quantitative and qualitative tools to support the alternative investment process and subsequently, as Head of Risk, institutionalizing its risk management process. In 2010, he joined the Alternative Investments Team as Senior Portfolio Manager. He subsequently co-headed this team from 2012 to 2015. Prior to working in the financial sector, Michael carried out research in the field of theoretical cosmology and is the author of several publications in professional journals. Michael holds a Diploma in Mathematical Physics from the University of Geneva and a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Sussex (UK).

"With an integrated team fully dedicated to research and talent selection, SYZ Asset Management will be able to meet all of our clients' needs, taking into account their preferred method of access to our investment management and portfolio construction expertise", said Katia Coudray, CEO, SYZ Asset Management.
