In Recognition of Commitment in Caring for the Community, the Employees and the Environment, QUAM LIMITED was Awarded the Caring Company

HONG KONG, Mar 14, 2016 - (ACN Newswire) - Quam Limited ("Quam") had been awarded the Caring Company.

The Caring Company Scheme (the Scheme) was launched by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) since 2002. The Scheme aims at cultivating good corporate citizenship and is specifically geared to build strategic partnerships among business and non-profit organization to promote a more cohesive society. The schemes inspire corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, the employees and the environment. Quam is honorable to be awarded the Caring Company Logo in recognition of its commitment and achievement which will encourage us to take up the responsibility to care for the community and support the policy on sustainability.

Quam endeavors to contribute to the community

Quam is dedicated to contributing to the community and the charity. Not only Quam sponsored and supported various events and charities, its staff also participated in various activities.

For the social caring, Quam had been the "Ruby Sponsor" of CyberRun for Rehab - Healthy Steps in Cyberport 2015, which aims at raising funds for Hong Kong and Mainland rehabilitation services to promote "Community Rehabilitation and Social Integration". Quam was also the title sponsor of the "Hong Kong Masters Athletics Meet 2015", which raised the health awareness and sports development for the age of 35 or above. Quam's staff and business partners also joined that the track & field event.

For the environmental caring, Quam has been pursuing various environmental initiatives in the office, such as post office announcements and posters to remind all staff to protect the environment, take measures on energy saving, reduce wastes and encourage paper recycling.

For the employee caring, Quam had been the platinum sponsor of the "The 44th Hong Kong French Film Festival" in 2015, which not only foster arts and culture in the community, but also encouraged its staff to develop diversified interests.

In 2015/2016, Quam also sponsored and encouraged employees to participate in other activities, including "Quam Outward Bound", "China Ice Hockey League - the Quam Cup Finals", "The Rat Race Central" and "Green Concert & Polar Bike Challenge" etc.

About Caring Company Scheme
The selection criteria and the evaluation of the scheme are stringent. All awardees are required to be nominated by at least one local charitable organization, and then examined by the Steering Committee which comprised of the leaders and professionals from different industries. The members of the Committee include, Mr Bernard Chan, GBS, JP, members of the Executive Council and Chairperson of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service; Ms Jane LAU, Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF; Ms Deborah WAN, BBS, JP, Vice Chairperson of The Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities; and Mr Chua Hoi Wai, the Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service.

There are three adjudication Scopes and a total of 18 Criteria under the Scheme. To qualify for the Caring Company Logo, all participating companies and organizations must fulfil a minimum of 2 Criteria out from each of the three Scopes i.e. Caring for the Community, Caring for the Employees and Caring for the Environment.

The Scheme encourages the companies to care the community through corporate social responsibility. According to the statistics in 2014/15 alone, some 2,960 caring companies and organizations supported a total of around 460 social service organizations. Over HK$440 million was donated to support various projects and their employees spent over 180,000 hours to the voluntary activities, while over 8,000 people with disabilities were provided with job opportunities. All these are valuable achievements from the companies that joined the scheme.
