Hua Hong Semiconductor Gains Leadership in the LED Lighting Market with an Aggregate Shipment of 600 Million Chips Based on 700V BCD Platform
HONG KONG, May 03, 2016 - (ACN Newswire) - Hua Hong Semiconductor Limited ("Hua Hong Semiconductor" or the "Company", together with its subsidiaries, the "Group"; stock code: 1347), a global leading pure-play 200mm foundry, today announced that it had shipped more than 600 million chips so far after its mass production of ultra-high voltage 0.5um 700V BCD process platform in 2015, leading the LED lighting market.
Amid the global megatrend of energy efficiency and environment friendliness, LED lighting market is expected to experience soaring growth. Topology Research Institute predicted that the total shipment volume of LED driver ICs will reach 2.39 billion in 2015 and increase by 58 percent year-on-year to 3.78 billion in 2016.
As the LED driver IC foundry with the largest shipment in China, Hua Hong Semiconductor has been well-prepared for such strong momentum by introducing a full range of power management IC solutions. Amongst, the 0.5um 700V BCD process platform that delivers the highest performance-price ratio is tailor made for LED IC startup charge, thanks to the Company's successful development of the ultrahigh voltage junction field effect transistor (JFET) based on the 700V LDMOS for switching mode LED drivers. The extremely compact discrete can withstand high voltage while providing sufficient charging current. Available at operating voltage of 700V/650V/600V/500V/400V/200V, with threshold voltage of 9V/10V/12V/17V/22V/29V, it can accommodate diversified design requirements. Featuring wide application, small IP footprint and stable charging current, this process platform is ideal for AC-DC converters and green energy applications such as LED lighting.
