三菱重工とMHPS、新生「三菱日立パワーシステムズ硬式野球部」（横浜市）を発足

三菱重工長崎硬式野球部とMHPS横浜硬式野球部を統合して戦力強化へ

東京, 2016年11月15日 - (JCN Newswire) - 三菱重工業株式会社と三菱日立パワーシステムズ株式会社（MHPS）は、野球チームの戦力強化を目的として、2017年のシーズンから三菱重工長崎硬式野球部と三菱日立パワーシステムズ横浜硬式野球部を統合し、新たに「三菱日立パワーシステムズ硬式野球部」を発足させる方針を決定しました。これにより、公益財団法人日本野球連盟および毎日新聞社が主催する都市対抗野球大会や社会人野球日本選手権大会で全国優勝を狙えるチームを目指します。本拠地は、MHPSの本社がある横浜市とします。

三菱重工長崎硬式野球部は1918年に創部され、1991年と1999年には都市対抗野球大会で準優勝、2001年には社会人野球日本選手権大会で優勝しています。また、MHPS長崎工場の選手も多く在籍しています。

一方のMHPS横浜硬式野球部は、1964年に三菱重工横浜硬式野球部として創部され、2014年のMHPS発足時にチーム名を三菱日立パワーシステムズ横浜硬式野球部に変更しました。都市対抗野球大会では2010年に、社会人野球日本選手権大会では2009年にそれぞれ4強入りを果たしています。

新チームは全国制覇に向けて、2017年1月に始動します。
