ホンダ、米国Waymo社と自動運転の共同研究に向けた検討を開始

東京, 2016年12月22日 - (JCN Newswire) - Hondaの研究開発子会社である株式会社本田技術研究所(本社:埼玉県和光市、代表取締役社長:松本宜之)は、Google Inc.(グーグル社)を傘下に持つAlphabet Inc.(アルファベット社)の自動運転研究開発子会社であるWaymo(本社:米国カリフォルニア州マウンテンビュー代表:ジョン・クラフチック、以下、ウェイモ社)と米国にて自動運転技術領域の共同研究に向けた検討を開始しました。両社の技術チームは、ウェイモ社の自動運転技術であるセンサーやソフトウェア、車載コンピューターなどをHondaの提供する車両へ搭載し、共同で米国での公道実証実験に使用していきます。

Hondaは、「事故に遭わない社会」の実現に向け、以前より自動運転技術の研究開発を進めており、2020年頃に高速道路での自動運転実用化を目指しています。今回、完全自動運転の実用化を目指すウェイモ社と共同研究を行うことで、Hondaが従来より行っている自動運転技術に加え、完全自動運転の領域を広げ異なる技術アプローチを探求していきます。
