NTTドコモ、サムスンと必須特許のライセンス契約を締結

東京, 2017年11月27日 - (JCN Newswire) - 株式会社NTTドコモ（以下ドコモ）は、サムスン電子（以下、サムスン）と規格必須特許※1のライセンス契約を締結いたしました。

ドコモはより高度で快適なモバイル通信環境を実現するため、W-CDMA、LTEおよびLTE-Advancedや5Gなどのネットワークやサービスに関する研究開発に積極的に取り組むとともに、研究開発成果に関する特許出願を推進してまいりました。その結果、W-CDMA、LTEおよびLTE-Advanced規格の必須特許については、6,000件以上を保有するに至っております。ドコモでは、これらの必須特許に対する適正な対価を得るため、これまで当該必須特許を実施する第三者に対し、特許プール※2または個別の交渉を通じ、ライセンス料の支払いを求めてまいりました。

本契約には、サムスンとの事業および標準化における協力、およびサムスンからドコモに対するライセンス料の支払が含まれます。サムスンのようにドコモの当該必須特許のライセンスを受けている企業は、特許プールを通じたライセンスを含め、現在30社以上にのぼり、今後もライセンス先企業を拡大する予定です。

ドコモは、今後も5Gを含む移動通信技術の研究開発および標準化を推進するとともに、その成果である必須特許について、特許プールおよび個別交渉を通じたライセンス活動を進めてまいります。
