三菱商事、英国における新規洋上風力発電事業への参画

東京, 2018年03月26日 - (JCN Newswire) - 三菱商事株式会社（以下、当社）は、英国100%子会社のDiamond Generating Europe社（以下、DGE）を通じて、スペインの再生可能エネルギー事業者であるEDP Renewables社（以下、EDPR）から、Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Limited（以下、MOWEL）の株式の33.4%を取得し事業参画することをお知らせ致します。MOWELの株主は当社、EDPR、フランスのENGIE社となります。

MOWELは、英国スコットランドMoray湾沖合、約22㎞の海域でMoray East（モーレイイースト）洋上風力発電所の開発・建設・運転を担うプロジェクト会社です。2018年中に同発電所の建設を開始し、2022年に運転を開始する予定です。総発電容量は約95万kW、英国最大級の洋上風力発電所になり約100万世帯の電力を賄う規模です。

DGEは、洋上風力事業の開発・建設・運転等を管理する専門チームを擁しており、オランダ・ルフタダウネン洋上風力発電所＊（総発電容量13万kW）、ベルギー・ノーザー洋上風力発電所＊＊（同37万kW）を運営しています。これまでの事業で得られた洋上風力事業運営の知見を活かし本案件にも取り組みます。

欧州では、温室効果ガスの排出量を2050年までに1990年と比べ80%削減する目標を掲げ、2030年までに約5,000万kWの洋上風力発電が導入される計画です。欧州で洋上風力発電の導入が進むことで、発電機の大型化、発電所の大規模化を可能にする技術開発が進み、低廉な発電コストの洋上風力発電が世界的に普及すると見込まれております。

当社は、継続的な洋上風力発電事業の取り組みを通じ、低炭素社会への移行に貢献して参ります。
