三菱商事、米国キャメロンLNGプロジェクトのLNG生産開始

東京, 2019年05月14日 - (JCN Newswire) - 三菱商事株式会社（以下、当社）が、日本郵船株式会社との米国合弁事業会社（Japan LNG Investment, LLC、以下JLI社）を通じて参画している米国キャメロンLNGプロジェクトは、現地時間5月14日にLNGの生産を開始しました。

2014年8月の最終投資決定以降建設を進めて参りましたが、この度LNG生産開始となり、数週間の内にLNG船に荷積みされ、初出荷される見込みです。

本プロジェクトは、キャメロンLNG社（以下、CLNG社）が事業主体として推進しているLNGプロジェクトであり、CLNG社の株主構成は、米Sempra社 50.2%、仏Total社 16.6%、三井物産株式会社 16.6%、JLI社 16.6%となります。今回の生産開始はLNG生産設備の第1系列からのものであり、現在建設中の第2系列及び第3系列含む全3系列合計で、年間1200万トン（400万トン×3系列）のLNGを将来的に生産する予定です。

当社は、原料となる天然ガスを市場から調達してキャメロンLNG基地までパイプラインにて輸送し、年間約400万トン分のLNG生産をCLNG社に委託のうえ、本邦を中心とした需要家に販売する予定です。

人口増に伴う国際的なエネルギー消費量増加に加え、地球環境への負荷が少ないエネルギーの利用が求められる昨今、クリーンなエネルギー源の一つとしてLNGの需要が世界的に高まっております。こうした背景の中、当社は本プロジェクトを通じ、従来の東南アジア・中東・豪州に加えて新たなLNG供給源を確保しLNGの長期安定供給を実現することで、経済価値・社会価値・環境価値の三価値同時実現を目指して参ります。
