米国マツダ・トヨタ合弁新工場、トヨタの生産予定車種を変更

豊田, 2019年07月11日 - (JCN Newswire) - トヨタ自動車株式会社（以下、トヨタ）は、2021年より完成車生産を行うマツダ株式会社（以下、マツダ）との合弁新会社「Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, U.S.A., Inc.（以下、MTMUS）」におけるトヨタ向け生産ラインでの生産予定車種を、「カローラ」から「新型SUV」へ変更いたします。

今回の変更は、北米市場におけるSUV需要の高まりに応えるためのものです。MTMUSは、当初の予定通り2021年から生産を開始する予定です。北米で販売するカローラは、引き続き米国ミシシッピ州のToyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi, Inc.にて生産を行います。

マツダとトヨタは、2017年8月に、両社が折半出資で約16億米ドルを投資し、米国で30万台の生産能力を持つ完成車生産合弁会社を設立することに合意。2018年1月に工場建設地をアラバマ州ハンツビルに選定し、3月にはMTMUSを設立しました。現在は、2021年の生産開始に向けて従業員の新規採用や工場の建設を進めています。
