三菱電機、「温室効果ガス・水循環観測技術衛星(GOSAT-GW)」の本格的な開発に着手
温室効果ガスや水循環変動の観測により、気候変動に関する防災対策に貢献
東京, 2020年03月30日 - (JCN Newswire) - 三菱電機株式会社は、「温室効果ガス・水循環観測技術衛星(以下、GOSAT-GW※1)」の開発担当メーカーとして国立研究開発法人 宇宙航空研究開発機構(以下、JAXA)から選定され、本格的な開発に着手しましたのでお知らせします。本衛星は、温室効果ガス観測ミッション※2(環境省と国立研究開発法人 国立環境研究所が担当)と水循環変動観測ミッション(JAXAが担当)を担います。
当社はGOSAT-GWの開発を通じて、温室効果ガスや水循環変動の観測により、地球温暖化・気候変動に関する防災対策や気候変動予測の精緻化といった科学の発展に貢献します。
GOSAT-GWの特長
1. 広範囲・高精度の観測により、温室効果ガス排出量の推定精度向上に貢献
- 新開発の「温室効果ガス観測センサ3型(以下、TANSO-3※3)」を搭載し、地球上の温室効果ガス(二酸化炭素、メタン)を広範囲・高精度に観測することで温室効果ガス排出量の推定精度向上に貢献
「広域観測モード」:地球全体を切れ目なく面的に観測できるため、従来※4スポット的に観測していた方式と比較して観測可能な地点数が増加
「精密観測モード」:空間分解能※5が従来比※4約3倍に向上し、各地域の温室効果ガス濃度分布をより詳細に観測
2. 地球上の水の物理量の高精度観測により、水循環変動監視や気象観測の精度を向上
- 新開発の「高性能マイクロ波放射計3(以下、AMSR3※6)」を搭載し、高精度に地表・海面や大気中の水の物理量を推定
- 従来※7よりも観測が可能な周波数帯を増やすことでより正確な水の物理量推定が可能となり、降水量や水蒸気量、海氷観測、海面水温などの観測精度が向上
- 高精度な観測データにより、世界各国の気象機関における台風や集中豪雨などの予測精度向上に貢献するとともに、気候変動に伴う水循環変動把握により、社会生活への影響予測や対策立案に貢献
