三菱電機、TFT液晶モジュールの事業終息のお知らせ

東京, 2020年06月16日 - (JCN Newswire) - 三菱電機株式会社は、事業環境の変化を踏まえ、当社子会社のメルコ・ディスプレイ・テクノロジー株式会社（以下、MDTI）でのTFT液晶モジュールの生産を2022年6月をめどに終了し、液晶事業を終息しますのでお知らせします。

当社は今後、当社およびMDTIの液晶事業に係わる経営資源をパワーデバイスなどの成長牽引事業群へシフトし、さらなる成長・発展を目指してまいります。

TFT液晶モジュールの生産終了の背景
現在、産業用・車載用の中小型TFT液晶モジュールを取り扱う当社の液晶事業は、市場のニーズを踏まえた事業領域で、先端技術を搭載した付加価値の高い製品を開発・市場投入することで拡大を進めてきました。しかしながら、これまで当社が強みとしてきた高い表示性能や信頼性を有する製品もグローバルでの価格競争が想定以上に激化し、製品競争力の維持が困難な状況となったため、このたびTFT液晶モジュールの生産を終了し、液晶事業を終息することとしました。

当社の業績への影響

また、本件による当期（2021年3月期）の連結業績予想の修正はありません。
