NEC、「WISE VISION 内視鏡画像解析AI」を日本と欧州で販売開始
罹患者数が多い大腸がんの早期発見に貢献
東京, 2021年01月12日 - (JCN Newswire) - NECは、大腸内視鏡用のAI診断支援医療機器ソフトウェア「WISE VISION 内視鏡画像解析AI」を開発し、本日から日本における販売を開始します。日本に次いで欧州では近く販売を開始する予定です。
本ソフトウェアは、既存の内視鏡機器に接続することで、内視鏡検査時に撮影される画像から内視鏡検査中にAIで病変が疑われる部位を自動検知し、病変の検出を支援します。
大腸がんは日本国内で最も罹患者数が多いがん(注1)であり、欧州域内でも2番目に患者数が多いがん(注2)と言われています。大腸がんは前がん病変(大腸腫瘍性ポリープ)から発生することが明らかになっており、ポリープの段階で内視鏡検査時に見つけ出し摘除することで、大腸がんへの進行を抑制することができます。しかし、ポリープは内視鏡医の肉眼で見つける必要があり、サイズが小さい、形状が認識しにくいなどの場合は発見が難しく、約24%(注3)が見逃されており、発見が遅れる原因となっています。
この課題解決に貢献するため、NECは2016年から国立研究開発法人国立がん研究センター(注4)と連携し、1万病変以上の内視鏡画像を専門医の所見と併せてAIに学習させ、病変が疑われる部位を自動検知するソフトウェアを開発しました(注5)。開発にあたってはNECのAI技術群「NEC the WISE」(注6)及び米国国立標準技術研究所(NIST)において高い評価(注7)を獲得している顔認証技術を応用しました。
