微細藻類ユーグレナの特有成分パラミロンを活用

東京, 2021年03月29日 - (JCN Newswire) - 株式会社ユーグレナ(本社：東京都港区、代表取締役社長：出雲充、以下「ユーグレナ社」)、セイコーエプソン株式会社(本社：長野県諏訪市、代表取締役社長：小川恭範、以下「エプソン」)、日本電気株式会社(本社：東京都港区、代表取締役執行役員社長兼 CEO：新野隆、以下「NEC」)の3社は、国立大学法人東京大学の岩田忠久教授と共同で、微細藻類ユーグレナ(和名：ミドリムシ、以下「ユーグレナ」)の貯蔵多糖であるパラミロンを使ったバイオマスプラスチック※1の一つである「パラレジン」の技術開発、普及推進を目的とする「パラレジンジャパンコンソーシアム」( https://pararesin.euglab.jp )を設立したことをお知らせします。

廃プラスチック有効利用率の低さ、海洋プラスチック等による環境汚染が、世界的な課題となっており、その解決策の一つとして、バイオマスプラスチックの活用促進が挙げられます。このバイオマスプラスチックの普及推進は、化石資源由来樹脂を代替し、環境負荷低減、二酸化炭素排出量削減などを通じて脱炭素社会化へ貢献するとともに、SDGs・パリ協定の達成に寄与すると考えられています。

本コンソーシアムでは、有望なバイオマスプラスチックの一つとして、ユーグレナの貯蔵多糖であるパラミロンを使った「パラレジン」の共同技術開発を行い、2030年に年間20万トン規模のバイオマスプラスチックを供給可能にすることを目指します。
