The Link between Transportation Development and Urban Growth

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Transport networks must be able to support the economic growth, growing populations, and the diverse expectations of urban activity. There is clear global evidence that a comprehensive and well-performing transport system is an important enabler of sustained economic prosperity. The exponential growth in urban areas, combines with escalating cost of developing transportation solutions, means that transit projects cannot progress from planning to implementation fast enough. The 4th Annual Urban Transport: Mobility, Integration & Transformation conference to be held from 12th to 13th March 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, aims to enhance inter and intra city transport linkages with improved governance and financing strategies in transportation development.

Various industry experts will be discussing key issues and topics in the transport sector such as future proofing on the evolving cities to mitigate evolving concerns to traffic congestion; integrating planning and transport at the national, regional, strategic and local level; amicable handling of land acquisition and shortage challenges to put in infrastructure with growing development; exploring the financial options for transport infrastructure and new initiatives on the approach; and improving bus system and road infrastructure as vital facilitator in intermodal and integration of transport.

Representatives from City of Vancouver Canada; City of Sydney Australia; Auckland Transport New Zealand; Land Transport Authority Singapore; and Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD) Malaysia will be gathered in this 2-day conference to present keynote insights.
